The Dumbwaiter was in Paris for the weekend, and followed a recommendation to Le 6 Paul Bert in the 11th arr. The pithivier of pigeon and foie gras was followed by a dessert of pink grapefruit and black sesame. Excellent company, fantastic service and some of the best food The Dumbwaiter has had the pleasure of eating this year.
The Dumbwaiter is slowly working his way through the restaurants at the Ned and this week tucked into the Asian fare at Kaia. As well as some cracking poké bowls, the Dumbwaiter enjoyed one of his favourites - lamb chops.
Every now and then The Dumbwaiter enjoys a proper Michelin dining experience. On Tuesday he was treated to lunch at Marlon Abela's The Greenhouse in Mayfair. White asparagus, Bellota ham and parmesan ravioli was the standout dish.
A midweek dinner at Ametsa saw The Dumbwaiter accompanied by an eclectic room of diners, from guys in trackies to a couple dressed to the nines. John Dory beyond Blackberries proved the standout dish, with the anise doughnuts (which are in fact neither anise nor doughnuts) a pleasant way to round off our 10 course
Korean food and fashion is very in vogue these days but Koba in Fitzrovia has been serving some of the best Korean barbecue in London for over ten years. The Dumbwaiter enjoyed a feast of different meats cooked at the table and all washed down Korean style with soju.
