The Dumbwaiter's Best Bites of the Week

10 Heddon St

This cosy area tucked off Regent Street has started to become a bit of a foodie destination thanks to Sabor. Now Dave Carter of Smokestak and chef Chris Leach have taken over the former Magpie site for a few months and are serving some great food, especially the pastas. The Dumbwaiter especially enjoyed the tonnarelli brown crab cacio e pepe.

There are some great new dishes on the menu at Andrew Wong’s stylish city outpost Kym’s but for Lazy Susan, the classic Sichuanese Spiced Aubergine is always a must-order. In fact, there’s no shame (she decided) in pouring the sauce over the truffled vegetable fried rice.

The Dumbwaiter is constantly in awe of Zuma and how busy it is. If you're lucky enough to bag a table at the Knightsbridge restaurant then make sure to order platters of sushi and nigiri along with the wagyu beef with truffle and some sake.

Neil Borthwick at Wilderness

At Wilderness, Lazy Susan was lucky enough to snag a seat at the Chef’s Table when Neil Borthwick took his French House vibes to the woodland. Same number of seats, very different setting… but the food was every bit as great, if not even better (sunset views and top tunes). Susan and sidekick got stuck into the juicy quail and even gnawed the bones – luckily chef approved!

Pollen Street Social

The Dumbwaiter was lucky enough to spend the day with Jason Atherton on Monday and was treated to a lunch at Pollen Street Social. The Michelin-starred chef sent out a feast to The Dumbwaiter including this stunning scallop dish with olive oil, pear and jalapeno granita.
