Opportunity to join Knife and Fork Media (CODE Hospitality, The Good Food Guide) in London as team assistant, working across both brands in an administration and customer support capacity.

ABOUT US

Knife and Fork Media is a London-based hospitality media business that owns CODE Hospitality and The Good Food Guide.

CODE Hospitality (CODE) is a digital membership platform for hospitality people in the UK. CODE members get up to 50% off in over 400 of the best restaurants, bars & hotels, along with additional perks, editorial and events. We have a network of more than 50,000 people working in and with hospitality. We endeavour to champion the industry in everything we do.

The Good Food Guide (GFG) is a consumer-facing publication, founded in 1951. Every year the Guide reviews the best restaurants, pubs and cafés across Great Britain combining a network of reader feedback with anonymous expert inspections. We will be bringing back Guide as part of a new digital subscription, The Good Food Club, in spring 2022.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a team assistant to provide effective and reliable support across the two brands. This would encompass a wide variety of tasks, primarily focused on customer service and administration support.

This is a role best suited to someone at the very beginning of their career – a recent graduate or school leaver – who is looking to get some practical business experience under their belt. We have no formal qualification requirements, but you’ll need to have excellent written and spoken English, a professional manner, and a desire to learn quickly. This is likely to be your first or second full-time office-based role so we will be on hand to provide the necessary support and training.

Knife and Fork Media is committed to creating an equal and inclusive working environment. The role will be shaped around the successful candidate, and there is plenty of opportunity to learn on the job. We have outlined some desired responsibilities, skills, and interests. If you feel that you tick some (or all) of the boxes, we’d love to hear from you.

SKILLS AND INTERESTS

  • Customer Service / Administration – Ideally you will have worked in an office setting before and have a good grasp of customer service, along with careful attention to detail.
  • Operations savvy – You are not afraid of repetition and hard work when it is necessary, but always on the lookout for opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.
  • Organisation – This can be a varied role and being organised is essential to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
  • Communication – As team assistant you will find yourself working with everyone in the team. It’s important to be a team player and to communicate effectively.
  • Hospitality – A passion and curiosity for the UK hospitality industry is desirable as it’s not only our work but a big part of company culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Customer service – Managing member applications and enquiries across CODE Hospitality and The Good Food Guide, sharing feedback internally, and working with our developers to resolve any technical issues.
  • CODE Careers – Managing CODE Careers enquiries and ensuring job adverts are uploaded correctly to the website.
  • Contracts, invoices, and expenses – Assisting the team to issue contracts, ensure that invoices are paid, and manage company expenses.
  • Administration – Supporting the team with ad hoc administrative tasks. For example, this could include compiling reports, updating the website, or setting up newsletters.
