General Manager, Orasay
Orasay is a small, smart, contemporary dining room in Notting Hill, with a constantly evolving menu largely focused on dazzlingly high quality British fish and seafood.
It is fun, informal, stylish and confident. We are a tight team, who all take immense pride and pleasure in our hard work, and are richly rewarded by the warmth and gratitude of our guests.
We are a busy, engaged, and engaging restaurant, and while we are immensely proud of everything we’ve achieved thus far, we are much more interested still in everything yet to come.
Our amazing GM Adam is leaving at the end of this year to begin the process of opening his own place, and we wish him all the luck and success he absolutely deserves. This means we are looking to meet individuals who would be excited to take on the role of General Manager.
-recruiting, training, and leading a Front of House team who make every guest feel happy to be alive.
-reflecting and matching, in the style of service, the welcome, the drinks list, and so forth, the creative energy of the kitchen
-managing the financial activities of the business, and taking ultimate responsibility for all monies in, and out
-working with the group director of operations to compile accurate profit and loss accounts, and presenting them to the directors
-leading weekly management meetings of the core team, to ensure we’re constantly progressing and evolving
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate would have a fluency in the way a restaurant’s finances work, and an understanding of key metrics for tracking profitability. They would have a deep enthusiasm for what we do, both specifically at Orasay, and generally in this industry.
They would have an abiding sense of the value, the ethics, and the aesthetics of a well-run, busy and energized dining room. They would have a fundamental appreciation for interesting food and wine, and a desire to contribute original ideas to the operation and offering.
They would have an innate understanding that keeping your guests happy, means keeping your team happy, and the importance of emotional investment in both front and back of house.
They would have a desire to join an already great restaurant, and through diligence, industry, and imagination, contribute to its growth into lasting excellence.
We’ve barely been open six months. We’ve had a bunch of really good reviews. We’ve been nominated for, and won, awards. We are busy, and happy, and warmly optimistic for the future. We value honesty, trust, industry and commitment.
