Petersham Nurseries in Covent Garden are looking for an ambitious and experienced General Manager to join our team in The Petersham restaurant. We are passionate about food, sustainability and all that comes with it. This role will suit a candidate with a strong background. You will be working closely with our Executive team to create an inspiring guest experience.

The Petersham– Respecting the Slow Food philosophy of Good, Clean and Fair and the traditions on which Petersham Nurseries Richmond was founded, The Petersham focuses on the finest seasonal produce, quality ingredients and Italian flavours, serving lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and Sunday lunch with a pre-theatre menu.

Job Description:

The Role

Petersham Nurseries in Covent Garden are looking for a passionate, creative and motivated General Managers for their a la carte restaurant The Petersham.

The role will suit a candidate with an engaging personality, financial awareness and a deep passion for customer care. At the same time our Restaurant Managers will be great team players with an open mind, hunger for knowledge and a hands-on approach.

Michelin Star or high-profile London restaurant experience is preferred. There will be a big focus on people development and team building.

You will be head of the department reporting directly into the Operations Manager.

The Petersham focuses on the finest seasonal produce, quality ingredients and Italian flavours, serving lunch and dinner, with pre and post theatre menus as well as afternoon tea.

We are respecting the Slow Food philosophy of Good, Clean and Fair and the traditions on which Petersham Nurseries Richmond was founded.

The role will be challenging but highly rewarding.

Necessary Experience and Skills

  • Have previous experience working within a high profile, destination restaurant as General Manager/Restaurant Manager.
  • Proven track record of people development.
  • Outstanding staff management and motivation skills.
  • The ability to drive 5* service on the floor.
  • Exceptional service standards.
  • Be immaculately presented, attentive and proactive with the ability to respond quickly to needs of the guests and management team.
  • Have a real flair and passion for food, drinks and guest care
  • Excellent food and wine knowledge
  • Great team player with exceptional communication skills
  • Financial acumen (working knowledge of Furth Hospitality, cash up online, stock take and ordering, wastage management, labour cost management
