The Role:

We are looking for a General Manager that shares our passions to help grow and develop Wild Food Café Islington as it becomes one of London’s plant-based destination dining hotspots. An interest in plant-based dining, wellness, and sustainability – these are all key to our identity as a brand. Our food is delicious, beautiful and nourishing, and we are driven to be a standard bearer for sustainability in the restaurant industry, so these things will also need to be your passions too.

You will be responsible for all the usual tasks any General Manager would be:

  • Point of liaison between kitchen and floor managers, overseeing profit and loss, budgets and setting weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial targets for the restaurant.
  • Communicating these, keeping staff accountable and motivated will be your primary focus.
  • Experience of working on seasonal menu changes as an active voice in the process, working with the Head Chef, senior kitchen team, and Bar Manager from concept through development and costing, to launch.

A small company with big ambitions, they are looking to increase the use of their restaurant space by partnering with like-minded organisations, brands and businesses. As the main point of contact for Wild Food Café Islington you will be a natural networker, confident meeting with entrepreneurs, senior representatives, and facilitators from a wide range of backgrounds as you seek out and develop business relationships.

Such a values-centric, busy restaurant needs a visionary leader – someone who is constantly spotting areas for improvement, opportunity and potential for growth. With a passion for plant-based food and wellbeing, you will constantly be finding ways to improve their offering from events services, brand partnerships and savvy marketing campaigns. An ability to attract brilliant people, to spot talent in potential team members and train staff in the quality standards of the business is crucial to maintaining the positive and happy vibes their customers and crew love about being there. Enabling team and individual development is also an important element of your role.

Qualifications Required:

  • At least 3 years experience in a senior management role in a hospitality setting, with Customer Service experience
  • Exceptional attention to detail across all aspects of business
  • Excellent communication skills, able to manage relationships with guests, team members and peers, as well as business owners, and all other stakeholders
  • Experience hosting vibrant parties and events; as well as being a restaurant space we also host supper clubs, events, launch parties, and provide outside catering ranging from exhibition launches to private catered dinners, we need someone who can switch up their style to meet these very different demands
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, with evidence of successfully managing a large, fast-paced restaurant, able to run a busy shift, but also able to manage your time effectively make sure that all of the administrative duties for the site are taken care of
  • A wealth of food and beverage knowledge, is always on the lookout for new trends and has a thirst to expand on what they already know
  • Ability to train and inspire a team to provide the highest level of hospitality; demonstrated success doing so
  • Qualifications and knowledge of food safety, working alongside the Head Chef and management team to make sure best practice is followed
  • Strong administrative, financial, and verified Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of P&L, costing and setting and working to budgets, liaising between senior operational management and the BOH and FOH management teams to make sure everything is on track and targets are always being met, or preferably exceeded
  • Preference given to those already having a Personal Licence to sell Alcohol
