About Dishoom

Dishoom have a plum role available for a PR Manager working within their first-class creative marketing team. It’s a full-time position based primarily at Dishoom’s Babu House (head office) in Shoreditch.

Dishoom is an award-winning restaurant company and the team are proud to have placed 20th in The Times Top 100 Companies to Work For in 2020. Dishoom’s restaurants are busy, bustling places, full to the brim with Bombay food and culture and a very big-hearted and talented team who will support you from day one. Dishoom care deeply about looking after their team and work hard to make life at Dishoom the very best it can be.

Dishoom’s creative marketing team works collaboratively – the role will involve working closely with (and being supported by) team members from marketing, design and creative, products, digital, internal and external comms, and events.

The Role

This role will be fast-paced, varied and challenging, with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. The PR Manager will work closely with the Brand Comms Manager and wider creative marketing team to amplify Dishoom's brand messaging, ensuring the three pillars of their communications – food and drink, values, and creative – are communicated effectively. Key responsibilities include:
  • Delivering high-quality, consistent coverage that communicates the breadth of Dishoom’s offering (restaurants, delivery, products, and more), as well as the depth of Dishoom’s values
  • Maintaining (and deepening) Dishoom’s relationships with press - managing communications with these contacts, from writing and pitching press releases, to hosting events and arranging deliveries
  • Developing Dishoom’s relationships within the industry and ensuring Dishoom has the right presence at press and industry events
  • Seeking out suitable event opportunities and partnerships
  • Working closely with the Brand Comms Manager to regularly refine and develop Dishoom’s PR strategy in line with wider brand and marketing objectives
  • Working closely with the Social Media Manager across campaigns, developing Dishoom’s relationships with influencers, and exploring emerging channels and creative talent
  • Weekly and monthly coverage reporting, as well as PR-associated administration

The Ideal Candidate

This isn’t a team or a company that does things by the book, so a beginner’s mind and the ability to look at things from all angles and think creatively will be key. They will be enthused by having a broad focus – this person needs to secure high-quality coverage beyond just restaurant PR. They’ll have an up-to-date knowledge of the industry and media landscape, as well as a keen interest in where it’s heading. The ideal candidate will:
  • Be big-hearted, warm and genuinely lovely with everyone
  • Be totally in tune with Dishoom’s values and culture
  • Currently be working at a Senior Account Executive / Account Manager level and have at least two years’ experience working in a PR role, either agency or in-house
  • Ideally have experience working on a variety of campaigns, including restaurants, product launches, book and events PR
  • Be well-connected with London and national press; connections with regional titles in Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh will be beneficial, but not essential
  • Have an interest in South Asian culture, beyond food and drink
  • Be quick-thinking, hyper-organised, adaptable, and totally comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Be able to work magic within a range of budgets
