Monocle is a global leading media brand with the magazine at the core of our business alongside M24 our 24 hour radio station, podcasts, films, digital – not to mention an expanding global retail & café network and online business.

Our Monocle Café in Marylebone is seeking a Café Manager to lead our growing busy team on Chiltern Street. The successful candidate will have at least three years’ experience in leading & managing a café team, have an eye for detail and be self-motivated. They should be a strong communicator and provide outstanding customer service while maintaining high standards in all aspects of our operations to reflect our brand values.

Responsibilities:

• Day-to-day running of the café, managing both the kitchen team and front-of-house.
• You will have a close working relationship with our neighbouring London Monocle Shop and bureau.
• You will be responsible for all aspects of managing the financial and operational elements of the business, including menu innovation, setting, and upholding customer-service standards, supplier relationships, events management, marketing, and payroll.
• We are well known for our excellent coffee and drinks, so proven barista skills in a busy environment are essential, as is the ability to hire, train and develop the Café team.
• The successful candidate will have a keen interest in world affairs, business, and design, have a passion for printed matter and will be an ambassador for our brand.

Requirements

The Monocle Café is open seven days a week and at times you will be expected to work weekends and evenings as part of your weekly schedule.

You must have a valid UK work permit, excellent verbal and written English and basic computer skills.
