    Sous Chef at Canton Arms

    Chef Patron Trish Hilferty and Charlie Bousfield opened Canton Arms in 2010 after working together previously at the groups mothership pub the Anchor and Hope in Waterloo. The Canton Arms immediately gained attention in the National press and quickly was voted into the Top 50 GastroPub Awards where it has remained ever since. As recently as 2021 we won Hardens BEST Pub award and 14 years later we are still going strong and are well established in the London dining scene.

    We are part of a small independent group of other award winning pubs. These include The Anchor and Hope in Waterloo, The Clarence Tavern in Stoke Newington and The Magdelene Arms in Oxford.

    Each pub has its own characteristics due to the different working partners in each. However, the ethos in all remains the same which is to provide the tastiest seasonal food and bar snacks alongside well-kept ales and a brilliant constantly evolving wine list of delicious natural wines.

    We are looking to hire a strong, calm and talented sous chef to join our fantastic team here at the Canton Arms who will need to manage and inspire a small team alongside head Chef Pete Andronicou.

    We cook a regularly changing, seasonal menu in a busy and friendly kitchen.

    Butchery, charcuterie, house sausages, pickles, ice cream and fresh bread are just some of the fun activities that are carried out, in house, on a daily basis.

    We offer great work life balance, flexible rotas, very competitive and generous pay, excellent staff food, (coffee, beer, and toasties!) cut price wine, staff discounts across the group, pension, regular staff trips and parties, wine tastings and training, and much more.

    This really is a rare opportunity. It’s a genuine chance to be flexible and creative in helping put together the delicious menu for this well-established London institution.
