The Alchemist launches swap shop to support food banks

Despite the challenges facing the hospitality industry, it’s been great to see how many businesses have commendably continued to help the local community and the vulnerable during this time. Joining that list is The Alchemist, who together with Grey Goose and social enterprise Foodinate will gift customers a cocktail in exchange for a food donation on October 13.

With an estimated 100,000 households relying on food banks for the first time over lockdown (Trussel Trust), there’s no better time to support The Alchemist’s swap shop initiative. All guests have to do is bring in an item of non-perishable food and receive a cocktail in return- larger donations are, of course, welcomed.

The initiative follows the success of last year’s swap shop, with over 3,000 donations collected. All donations taken across its sites in the UK will be distributed to local food banks and campaigns tackling food poverty.

“We love the work carried out by Foodinate. It’s a truly fantastic initiative tackling food poverty across the country which is an issue we’re passionate about at The Alchemist” says culture and talent director Hannah Plumb. “The Swap Shop is a fun and engaging way to encourage customers to donate to their local food banks, who need our support now more than ever.”

Cocktails for a good cause, we’re in.
