GORDON RAMSAY AT SEA CONTAINERS

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants Global and Lore Group, owner of Sea Containers London, are teaming up to launch a landmark riverside dining destination on London’s South Bank this autumn. Named Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers, the venue will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in a new look dining room and outdoor terrace overlooking the River Thames and city skyline. The partnership strengthens Sea Containers London’s position as a leading culinary and cultural destination, joining existing attractions including Ryan Chetiyawardana’s Lyaness, the 12th Knot rooftop bar and Curzon Sea Containers Cinema.

VERiFAIR

VERiFAIR is a new independent body founded by Justine Murphy to introduce a new verified benchmark for responsible workplace practices in the hospitality industry. Among the first to be VERiFAIR-verified: Ynyshir, Teal by Sally Abé, Humble Chicken and Dorian.

APPALACHIA

What’s cooking at Appalachia, the new High Country-inspired restaurant led by Alistair Borer (ex-Smoking Goat) and taking over from Counter 71 in Shoreditch in June? The likes of pork chop with collard greens, grilled poussin with grits, and country-fried rabbit.

DANTE MAYFAIR

Dante and Claridge’s are making it official. Dante, a world-class bar and restaurant and bona fide New York institution, has been in residence at Claridge’s since last summer. From mid-June, the pop-up goes permanent, becoming Dante Mayfair. Garibaldis all round!

• TERN (The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network) is holding a showcase of new dishes, created by London’s newest refugee-led food startups on its incubator programme at Food Exchange in London SW8 on 23 May. Tickets £22.

• The Clove Club is holding a one-day archive sale on 24 May from 11am to 3pm. Head down to pick up rare wines, ceramics and pantry items. Free entry.

• The Audley Public House in Mayfair, partnering with Black Bear Burger, is doing a burger for the first time ever. Available throughout the FIFA World Cup only, the £18 Audley Burger involves 12-hour brisket and bone marrow jus.

• Queen’s Park is the place to be. Next up in NW6, Bar Blondie, a restaurant and bar from Elliot Milne and sommelier Alexandra Price, opening in July. 160 wines plus a programme of music, art and culture? We’re down.

• Launching today in Edinburgh Old Town: Whirlybird, a modern tavern in an historic building, open all day for coffee, freezer martinis, highballs and bistro food. Check out the listed spiral staircase while you’re there.

• It may have fallen out of fashion, but it’s a sad day when Spaghetti House (est.1955) is no more.
