Jacob Stuttard and Jake Bucknall – both members of CODE’s 30 under 30, Class of 2024/25 – are co-founders of Dinner for One Hundred, a supper club and pizzeria, now with four sites (and a van) in Nunhead, Bloomsbury, Brixton, and Telegraph Hill.
The business began, quite literally, with a dinner for one hundred people back in 2020. Their events were quickly scotched by Covid, but Stuttard and Bucknall adapted, opening a pizzeria outside Jacob’s mum’s house. “At the end of that summer,” recalls Bucknall, “We were like, right, let’s keep doing this. Shall we change the name? And we were like, it’s probably too late now, so that’s why it’s kind of stuck around.”
That’s been advantageous, adds Stuttard: “It allows us to do loads of other things, not just pizza.”
Their first dinner was intended to get different groups of people mixing. That morphed into their now legendary themed singles nights. They’ve done some good ones this year, including one for people under six foot tall; another, for the Year of the Horse, was horse-themed. “We encouraged people to be their horsiest selves,” says Bucknall. “Bold stallions and stallionesses. We just went with it; we got our operations manager on a horse to announce the thing was coming and went to the races to promote it. The theming’s important. How it goes is we’re like, should we do that? And we just do it and it usually works.”
Their pizzas are excellent; made with a highly hydrated dough of zero unica flour with coarse semolina on the outside for a “best of both worlds” soft yet crisp eat. (“I could go on about the dough for a long time but I won’t” says Bucknall.) The pizza they’re best known for is the MacGyver with chorizo, whipped feta, fennel seeds, lots of thyme, a bit of lemon zest, honey and parmesan.
Their locations, some more “hole in the wall vibes” than others, all offer the same friendly service, same great pizza, but Bar D4100, their restaurant in Nunhead, is “the final boss”.

Good as Gold
A speciality coffee shop in Brockley that sells anything you could think of that revolves around breakfast. They have golden teaspoons which is pretty impressive. [Jacob]

En Root
My favourite is En Root, just off Peckham Rye. The food is vegan Indian, I’d say. Basically, I go and get off my gout-ridden diet of pizza and meat and just have a massive coconut, some crazy chai tea, and then a massive thali with a hundred vegetables. I leave and I feel amazing. It’s a really nice vibe in there; the guys that run it are legends. [Jake]

Uncle Wrinkle
If you want a really great Chinese, Uncle Wrinkle in New Cross, that’s the place to be. He used to deliver and Uncle Wrinkle himself would deliver to your door; now you have to go there. It’s my go-to Chinese restaurant. [Jacob]

Mr Bao
Really good value and really friendly; it won’t let you down. We really pride ourselves on our service; when you go to a place and they’re friendly – it sounds obvious – but it makes a big difference. I just really appreciate being appreciated. [Jake]

The Man of Kent
My favourite pub is the Man of Kent which is a few doors up. It feels like you’re in a living room. One half of it is Irish people all day long watching Gaelic football, smoking, watching the horses. and you go a couple of metres over there and you’re at a work party drinking lovely Guinness. It ticks all my personal boxes. [Jacob]

El Vermut
You’ve got to shout out El Vermut, a few doors down from Bar D4100. You’ve got these lovely huns being really nice, making lovely drinks, and you’re being really well looked after. It feels like you’re in Spain, drinking vermouth. [Jake]

Vintique London
I got my table there. It was the most expensive thing I’ve ever bought in my life. I’ve now literally got coasters for the first time in my life because of it. [Jake]

David Mitchell Picture Frames
A really good, friendly family-owned framers in Lewisham. I’m quite into frames as you can see [the walls of Bar D4100 are covered with pictures] so I get a kid-like feeling in that shop. [Jake]

Nunhead Cemetery
You can’t go wrong with a walk around Nunhead Cemetery. It’s one of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ Victorian cemeteries in London. We actually took our pizza down there recently for a really lovely event. [Jacob]

Nunhead Art Trail
This happens every September [from 26-27 September in 2026]. A lot of places open up their doors to be part of the art trail. They’ll come into Bar D4100 and they’ll paint our windows and do amazing murals. It feels quite special and immersive. [Jacob]
