Dining al fresco on the CODE app

London has now entered Tier 2. We’ll refrain from getting political here, but this new level of COVID restrictions is another heavy blow to our industry. However, groups of six are still allowed to meet in outdoor settings at a restaurant. So, despite the temperature dropping, some of our partners across London have some great outdoor spots. Grab your winter coat and prepare to get cosy in the elements.

Turnips

Under the arches of Borough Market and in amongst the market stalls, Turnips most definitely counts as outdoors. Tomas Lidakevicius – former executive chef at City Social – is in the kitchen working on a constantly changing five-course tasting menu and a lighter small plates menu, plucking the best seasonal produce from the stall.

The River Café

Ham Yard

Before everyone was talking about tiers, Ham Yard was ahead of the game with their roof terrace pop-up decked out in glowing lights and with plenty of warm woollen blankets to hand. If you don’t make it up there, consider dinner or a drink in the courtyard instead.

The River Café

Lunch on the terrace at the River Café usually brings to mind warm summer days and the odd celebrity sighting. And whilst we can’t make the sun shine, the CODE set menu and the well-heeled clientele awaits – just don’t forget an extra jumper or two.

Double Standard

Paladar

A charming neighbourhood spot in Zone 1, the regulars at Paladar are already familiar with the tucked-away courtyard decked out in twinkling lights. Come for the ambience, the Latin American small plates and the cocktails.

Double Standard

Normally home to DJ sessions and Aperol slushies, the terrace at The Standard will be making room for groups looking for shelter in style. Flanked by chic raised beds and candy-striped umbrellas, it’s a great spot to enjoy Adam Rawson’s popular burger or pick a few dishes from the Isla menu.

Allegra

Allegra

Head Chef Patrick Powell has been knocking out some of the best food in London in the far eastern tower of The Stratford hotel. If you haven’t made it there yet, come for his sharing dishes and small plates on Allegra’s Sky Terrace taking in the London skyline amongst wildflowers and water features and sheltered under the cedar-cantilevered roof.

Chicama

Come rain or shine, Chicama are ready to welcome guests with blankets at the ready. The cosy terrace has a bohemian beach house feel, complete with fairy lights, plants and plenty of Pisco sours for you to idle away the afternoon.
