Five places to enjoy a long lunch on the CODE app

Published 30 September 2020

Move over late nights, it’s time for the return of the long lunch. With new restrictions forcing restaurants and pubs to close by 10pm, there’s no better way to support hospitality businesses than settling in for the afternoon during the typically quieter lunch service. Plus, there’s no fear of being ushered out when you are only just getting started. So, whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, can’t face another home cooked lunch or just secretly quite like an early night, here are five places you can enjoy a long lunch on the CODE app.

Elystan Street

For many years, Phil Howard has been looked up to as one of our most talented and tenacious chefs, so when he opened Elystan Street in Chelsea with restaurateur Rebecca Mascarenhas, it quickly become a favourite for its elegant, seasonal dishes and easy, grown-up atmosphere. No wonder it scored a Michelin star so quickly. And who wouldn’t want to treat themselves to the four-course set lunch menu which, with the CODE app offer, is amazing value for money.

Orasay

Jackson Boxer brings energy and fun to the sometimes-staid west London scene with Orasay – and his lunchtime takeouts were a lockdown smash. Now we can enjoy his fish-forward menu again and the cooler weather means it’s the ideal time to head to the cosy Notting Hill restaurant for flavour-packed dishes using produce from Boxer’s beloved Scottish Western Isles. If you’re not a westie, do note that lunch down at sister restaurant Brunswick House in Vauxhall is also on the app.

The River Cafe

Serving celebrities, world leaders and everyone else since 1987, The River Café is at the very top tier of London restaurants, as famous for its hot pink wood oven as for its legendary chef patron Ruthie Rogers… and of course the chocolate nemesis which, we note, new pastry chef Anna Higham has been tweaking. Just wow. The daily changing lunch menu at the secluded Hammersmith powerhouse is on the CODE app. Need we say more?

Frog by Adam Handling

Adam Handling’s flagship Covent Garden restaurant, Frog by Adam Handling, is where you’ll see the chef’s technical skills on show – sometimes flashy presentation, always flavour-packed, elegant food. He’s often on the pass focusing forensically on each dish and it makes the restaurant, which has a great offer on Tuesdays-Saturdays, a perfect place to watch the open kitchen over lunch.

Dinner by Heston

Have you had the meat fruit yet? In a fancy, two-Michelin starred restaurant with a world-famous chef patron and an Instagram-friendly dish like chicken parfait made to look like a mandarin hogging the headlines, it can mean the pure pleasure of crisp white tablecloths and exemplary gets forgotten. Don’t make the mistake of missing lunch at Dinner (so to speak). Head to Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park where CODE members can enjoy offers on both the a la carte and set lunch menu.
