Alex and Saiphin Moore rescue Ceviche from administration

Published 18 November 2019

Founders of the Rosa’s Thai Cafe restaurant group Alex and Saiphin Moore have saved the Ceviche restaurant group from administration in a buy-out deal.

The husband and wife duo have acquired the Ceviche Group under Atomex, the turn around company founded by Alex Moore following the majority sale of Rosa’s Thai Cafe to TriSpan last year.

Founded by Martin Morales, the Ceviche Group currently includes the original Ceviche site and Casita Andina, both in Soho, alongside Andina in Shoreditch. Morales will no longer continue in his current role, however he will remain a brand ambassador to the business.

Ceviche Old Steet and both Andina and Ceviche in Notting Hill closed down last month, with the 88 employees offered alternative roles within the business as part of the buy-out terms.

Raquel De Oliveria (pictured on right alongside Saiphin Moore) has worked with the group since 2011, marking the opening of the first Ceviche site in Soho. She remains as Ceviche Group MD and becomes a shareholder in the business, working to stabilise and drive the business alongside Alex and Saiphin as it enters its new chapter. Group head chef Daniel Riberio and operations manager Alessio Bascherini will also remain with the business.

Commenting on the buy-out deal, De Oliveria noted ‘I am incredibly grateful for having the support of Alex and Saiphin in helping save our beautiful restaurants and our team’s employment. Looking forward to working alongside them and creating a strong company once again.’

Meanwhile, founder Martin Morales noted ‘it’s with a heavy heart that I step away from the business I created and love dearly, but know I am leaving it in Raquel’s very capable hands. She’s been with me on this journey from day one, and has so much passion for both Ceviche and Andina brands. I’m excited about what lies ahead and I am sure with Alex and Saiphin’s support, she can help grow the business, despite the challenging and uncertain economic times we are currently in.’
