Lifestyle hotel The Mayfair Townhouse to launch this autumn

Published 21 August 2020

The team behind Cliveden House and Chewton Glen are heading to London for their latest opening: The Mayfair Townhouse. The aim is to create a high-end neighbourhood spot and “redefine what it means to be a hotel in London” when it opens this autumn.

Overlooking Green Park on Half Moon Street, The Mayfair Townhouse is a hybrid between hotel and corporate property. Set within fifteen connected Georgian buildings, once the setting for Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, the hotel will reference the building’s history and culture throughout.

There won’t be a traditional restaurant, but instead a communal space off of the entrance lobby for guests to work, meet and eat. Meanwhile, The Dandy Bar will serve bespoke cocktails and champagne.

The hotel’s 172 rooms range from classic to penthouse suites, all kitted out with minibar from local producers and in-room cocktail kits. Guests can expect unusual art curated by specialist Minda Dowling, and even a 67 inch peacock sculpture made of Swarovski crystals… On top of that, there will be QR codes for guests to scan and learn more about the pieces.

“There is nothing like The Mayfair Townhouse” says Executive Director of Iconic Luxury Hotels Andrew Stembridge. “We’re looking to give London and travellers from all over the world something fresh, something totally different and something totally unexpected.”
