With Endo at the Rotunda still closed following a fire last September, Endo Kazutoshi is preparing a twin-pronged return with Creative Restaurant Group. Opening in the former Chelsea townhouse of Five Fields this October, ENDO will be a 10-seat omakase restaurant at street level, joined by Moga, a Japanese hi-fi listening bar, on the floor above. At ENDO, the third-generation sushi master will hew even closer to the time-honoured traditions of his training, paying tribute to the intimate sushi counters of 1920s and 1930s Tokyo, the era during which his grandfather opened his restaurant in Yokohama. For the omakase, he will use only wild-caught fish from the British Isles, with rice, nori, wasabi and soy sauce produced exclusively for him by specialist producers in Japan. Moga, meanwhile, will initially be reserved for ENDO diners before opening to the public in December. In Endo-san’s words: “Like Kintsugi, the scars of last year have become part of my history; they have made me return more deeply to my roots.”

The team behind Camille in Borough have a second site in the works. The unnamed restaurant will open in Farringdon in late autumn, where head chef Elliot Hashtroudi, inspired by his grandmother, will celebrate old regional British and Irish cookery and Victorian tradition.

Just a month after its lease ended, Gabriel Waterhouse’s Water House Project is back – as Waterhouse, a modern Northumberland restaurant, wine bar and garden, at a new location off Columbia Road. The restaurant opens on 6 August; the bar follows in September.

London Museum will open four new F&B concepts with Green & Fortune at its new Smithfield home, opening 28 November: Clerks House, an all-day restaurant; Bartholomew’s, a bar collaboration with Mr Lyan Studio, plus a café and residency space. Robin Gill is food curator.

Get the lemonade on ice: school’s out for summer, so the critics’ plus ones will be their children until September. The Sunday Times’ Camilla Long was spotted out lunching with hers last week.
Four Legs’ Ed McIlroy has got his heart set on a zillion pound project somewhere in the capital. He just needs an investor. Must have pots of cash and a massive ego. Show yourselves.
The Dumbwaiter has never had a snakebite but is intrigued nonetheless by influencer James Dimitri’s valiant efforts to make this half-lager, half-cider, dash-of-blackcurrant squash beverage happen. Some bars refuse to do them, so hats off to St. JOHN for obliging, albeit with a splash of cassis. Chic!
