New all-day Mediterranean bistro Joan comes to Shoreditch

Restaurateur Conor George has teamed up with former Caravan head chef Nikos Kontogiannatos to open a new Mediterranean focused bistro and bar in Shoreditch. Joan will be an all-day offering located in an old leather factory on Bethnal Green Road opposite Shoreditch High Street station and close to Lyle’s, Pizza East and Dirty Bones.

Initially open for dinner during the week and for brunch on the weekends, the menu draws inspiration from Kontogiannatos’s native Greece. The interiors have been designed by George with inspiration from his travels across Europe and North America. The menu includes small plates, dishes from the grill and pizzas. Noticeably brunch goes behind the usual eggs offering with dishes such as sesame bread with blanched kale, cottage cream, hot smoked salmon and horseradish as well as pancakes with milk chocolate cream, bananas, honeycomb and caramel sauce.

Despite the current turmoil the London hospitality industry is going through thanks to the 10pm curfew and the recent Tier 2 regulations, Joan joins a number of recent restaurant openings in the capital including Louie, Maison Francois and Noble Rot.

Joan officially opens on Monday 2 November at 19-23 Bethnal Green Road, Shoreditch, E1 6LA
