This year, we’re really excited to have launched “CODE for Business”, meaning teams can now get CODE app as a staff benefit and save some money together whilst getting out and about experiencing the industry. For myself, this also means I’ve started to gain a small insight into a completely new world of working in hospitality HR which is great fun. We’re lucky at CODE to get a lens across the industry through our members and partners and so I thought it might be helpful to share updates and signpost resources. Hopefully this can become a more comprehensive bulletin if people feel it’s useful!
Thanks, Maitland
Over the past few months, we surveyed our current CODE for Business partners and our wider HR network to find out what you’d like to see more of from us. You asked for more budget friendly offers, specifically under £10; chef’s equipment; mental health and wellbeing; as well as signposting HR resources, visa support and careers. I know often these surveys can feel like no outcomes have been taken as a result, so below is some of what we’ve been working on.
Don’t have CODE for Business?
Particularly with the minimum wage changes that kicked in on April 1st, salary insights was another theme that came out of our survey responses. The HR in Hospitality network are fantastic and ran a very comprehensive salary & benefits survey last year, with over 50 hospitality companies involved, aiming to document changing trends within hospitality salaries and data-points at each level of the industry. You can only access the data if you take part in the survey yourself, and you can pre-register below if you’d like to be involved this year.

This year, broadening our range of more affordable eats is a big priority for our partners team and also the most popular survey response which aligns well! To highlight some of our recent offers that have been brought into our “Under £10” section:
Pizza Pilgrims (£6.50 margheritas, Mon – Thurs)
Neat Burger (30% off total bill)
Other Side Fried (30% off food, everyday)
Block Soho (50% off food, Sun – Thurs)
Crudo Cevicheria (50% off food, Mon – Thurs)
Whole Beast (50% off food, Wed – Sun)

This has also been a big theme, on CODE we currently have 20% off Mental Health First Aider at Kelly’s Cause; 33% off TRIBE protein; Gym discounts at The Gym; BLOK and Barry’s; Spa discounts at The Mondrian and The Ned and Yoga at The Proud Project with more to follow soon…
The Drinks Trust is also running a Wellbeing Champions course which might be of interest on 6th and 7th June. It’s all about learning practical tools and gain better knowledge on how to support your colleagues and drive wellbeing in your workplace.
For anyone looking at their CIPD Level 3 in people practice; their level 5 in organisational L&D or people management, we’ve partnered with Acudemy to offer 25% off their courses, coming very shortly…
Otolo have put together a helpful list of websites for their mentees, however the first block of websites is specifically for HR’s in Hospitality including benefits calculator, employee rights which is a handy resource guide.
We know that this has been something a lot of our partners would like to see more of, and we’re in talks with a few brands and have some chef-related offers that we hope to launch on the app over April and May so stay tuned! If you have any specific contacts/ suggestions for us to reach out to, please let us know below.
Although CODE for Business is more about retention, on the recruitment side we’ve opened up our online careers board so all our CODE for Business partners now have access to unlimited online job postings, for free. If you get in touch we’ll send you a code to bypass the charge, and you can post jobs by following the below link.
Each year, we run an industry report based on survey data from our members, all about why people work in hospitality, a snapshot of industry views and commentary from leading voices. Our last report is here if you haven’t seen it. This year, we really want the report to be a practical toolkit as well as share insights, anecdotes, advice and solutions from HR professionals in the industry. If you’d like to help shape the report, please get in touch!
If you and your team are enjoying CODE, we’d be grateful if you could provide a testimonial (either written, or video) about how CODE works for you. In return, we can gladly shout about you on our website and to our network.
If you know anyone in the industry who might enjoy CODE for Business, we’d love if you could kindly put in a good word for us. Either passing on our details, or even providing an intro would be so appreciated!
