We’re looking for a dedicated and creative Head Baker to lead our team of skilled bakers at Farro – a small, independent bakery and city mill in the centre of Bristol, commited to great hospitality, backed by delicious grain-centric baked goods and specialty coffee. This is a full-time role for someone with experience leading in a collaborative environment, who values continuous learning, experimentation, and open feedback.

As Head Baker, you’ll be working with the whole team to develop a seasonally changing counter offering for the bakery that aligns with our philosophy of flavour focused seasonality, non commodity sourcing and innovative baking. You’ll oversee all bakery operations, from bread and pasty production to cleanliness and compliance, ensuring the smooth running of the bakery. You’ll also be working alongside our talented front-of-house team to ensure a seamless and high-quality experience for our customers. The position will also include playing a key role in contributing to the financial health of the business, managing rotas, food costs and GP.

Experience Required:

  • At least 1 years’ experience as Head Baker/Pastry chef in a similar place of work
  • Demonstrable, confident skill across all pastry and bread production processes
  • Proven experience managing bakery/pastry operations, including stock and ordering systems, rotas, and team training.
  • A solid understanding of GP, food cost management, and developing products to meet financial targets
  • Experience working with suppliers and reaching out to forge strong sourcing relationships
  • Knowledge of health & safety, HACCP, and compliance responsibilities in a professional kitchen
