Restaurant, Bar & Occasional Music on the Margate Harbour Arm –
Re-opening under new stewardship
Start date: Early June 2021
Ed Wilson and Josie Stead of Brawn are continuing their music/food relationships, this time heading to Margate to re-open Sargasso alongside existing partner and British Musician Matthew Herbert.
An intimate, lovely spot tucked away on the Harbour Arm, located next door to the Turner Contemporary. A raw space that enjoys the weather in all its glory, from sun-drenched long summer days to waves crashing over (literally!) on stormy winter nights.
Margate boasts a thriving community of independent businesses with strong arts and music roots and a growing food and wine scene.
The food will largely use locally sourced ingredients but take inspiration from Europe’s northern Atlantic cultural classics – the perfect spot for salty snacks and vermut. There will also be regular programming of music and dj’s plus guest broadcasting to boot.
The restaurant is currently recruiting for a range of positions. If you are enamoured by the prospect of joining this exciting project, enticed by a move to the coast or are local to the Thanet community already, please get in touch to explore a role with Sargasso. A love of food + cooking, wine + service, music + good times is essential.
The normal working pattern is based on 6 shifts per week and the renumeration is competitive. We do not run a service charge/tronc system so all pay is from the business.
The positions being recruited for are as follows:
Front of House
Full-time, part-time & Summer seasonal (June-September)
Sous Chef, Chef-de-Parties

Kitchen Porter
