Sous / Senior Sous Chef, The Kerfield Arms
The Kerfield Arms is a brand-new opening from the acclaimed team behind The Baring in Islington, proudly featured in the Good Food Guide and ranked in the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs. We’re looking for a confident, thoughtful Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef to join our small, ambitious kitchen team.
You’ll be working in a brand-new kitchen, cooking over fire and using the very best seasonal British produce. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a kitchen from the ground up, working closely with the Head Chef to deliver an ingredient-led menu in a calm, professional environment.
About the role
– Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring smooth, organised service from prep through to close
– Contributing creatively to the development of our seasonal, produce-led menu, staying true to our ethos
– Maintaining consistency, precision, and exceptionally high standards across every section and every service
– Creating a calm, supportive kitchen culture where the team feels confident and able to perform at their best
– Leading, mentoring, and developing junior chefs through hands-on training, 1–1s, and ongoing feedback
– Working closely with trusted suppliers to monitor quality, seasonality, and provenance
– Supporting GP, margin, and labour targets alongside the Head Chef and management team
About you
– An experienced Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef from quality, fast-paced kitchens
– Strong knowledge of seasonal British produce and ingredient-led cooking
– Calm, organised, and confident leading service
– Passionate about standards, teamwork, and delivering an exceptional guest experience
– A natural leader who enjoys developing people and building strong kitchen culture
