Role: Duty Manager

Reports to: Operations Manager

Location: Sohaila, 232 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6PJ

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: from £15-16 hourly dependent on experience, including tronc

Hours: 25-35 weekly

About the role

As our Duty Manager you will help run the day-to-day FOH operations at Sohaila, a Lebanese-inspired small plates restaurant, and is the second restaurant by Fat Macy’s.

We are a social enterprise and foundation that exists to provide a pathway from hostel to home. You’ll support our restaurant team as a key member of the front of house team, and you’ll also support and guide our trainees as they complete their journey through the Fat Macy’s programme.

What you’ll do

Work and manage shifts in a busy, 50 cover Shoreditch restaurant
Grow and develop your bar skills and wine knowledge, particularly focused on natural and biodynamic wines
Assist with ordering, stock takes, and other admin duties as required
Help to execute marketing strategies (including social media posts) to elevate the business and assist growth
Be hands-on with team building, training and development
Have sharp attention to detail and excellent standards of cleanliness
Support our catering business by occasionally helping prepare deliveries, or working shifts at nearby events
Provide FOH training and on-shift support for our programme trainees

The ideal person

You have 2+ years experience in the hospitality industry and are passionate about everything food
A demonstrable understanding of food safety and allergen awareness
A genuine enthusiasm for our social mission – you’ll enjoy working with people from all walks of life and be ready to mentor and support them in their journey with Fat Macy’s
A team player – ambitious and a good listener who works well with others
Organised, great at multitasking and comfortable with prioritisation in a fast moving environment
You’ll have excellent interpersonal communication skills and customer service
