The role
CODE Hospitality is seeking a transformational editor with an excellent track record in food, drink and hospitality journalism who can develop our editorial offering online and in print.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of CODE’s editorial offering. The ideal candidate must be well-versed in the UK hospitality industry and have experience reporting on it. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality coverage of what is happening in the hospitality industry with a strong focus on London and Manchester. A natural communicator with a highly strategic commercial mindset, you’ll be happy to manage a growing team of writers in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
The role will report to the senior leadership team and work in close partnership with key internal and external stakeholders including the Head of Partners & Members, Marketing and Product Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the senior management team in the short and long-term strategic development of the business
- Oversee and edit all day-to-day work relating to CODE editorial working quickly, yet accurately, to assign coverage and cover trending topics
- Forward planning for known news events and take ownership of our flagship features including 100 most influential women in hospitality, 30 under 30, and Happiness in Hospitality
- Line management of editorial team, ensuring support, mentoring, upskilling and development of team
- Ensure diversity of reporting across the staff and contributors
- Represent CODE at key industry events, press events or media opportunities
- Monitor key editorial stats to ensure content is consistently responsive to current business needs
- Provide feedback on CODE website and site development
Requirements:
- Extensive and outstanding journalism experience
- Experience leading and editing a news team
- Excellent knowledge of hospitality
- Strong knowledge of SEO and online journalism
- Excellent managerial skills with the ability to lead whilst retaining and nurturing talent
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to work well under pressure and collaboratively, delegating accordingly
- Strong presentation skills
How we work
The CODE team have a flexible set up with a combination of remote working and access to Soho Works spaces in central London where we meet as a team at least once a week. This role will involve frequent in-person meetings in London.
Key information
Contract: Full-time role (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum
Benefits: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays; employer pension contribution; cycle to work scheme; invitations to industry dinners and events.
