We also have cafés in Zürich and London, as well as a newsstand and coffee concept in London called Kioskafé.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Cafe Manager to lead The Monocle Café and Kioskafe in London.

The successful candidate will provide outstanding customer service while maintaining high standards in all aspects of our operating and reflecting our brand values.

Barista experience will be an advantage and valid right to work in the UK is essential.

Main responsibilities

Customer service

To ensure the satisfaction of all customers by ensuring that service is prompt, efficient and delivered to the highest standards.

To be the point of contact for customers to discuss any aspects of The Monocle Café menu, service, environment or other related matters in a polite and courteous manner.

To proactively resolve any customer complaints in an efficient, professional and satisfactory manner to ensure a positive outcome and secure future business.

To ensure that the standards of customer service, employee conduct and maintenance of the café environment are managed in line with the brand guidelines and standard operating procedures manual.

Financial responsibility

To ensure that each day’s sales are correctly and accurately reconciled in line with the electronic-point-of-sale report and credit card terminal.

To provide timely and accurate transfer of financial information to the accounts team.

To assist with the training of the café team regarding fraud, transactional procedures and security.

Team management & development

To oversee trial shifts and aiding the induction process for new café team members.

To manage staffing levels in line with the business forecast and anticipated workload to deliver the forecasted sales.

To identify training requirements within the café and to ensure quality on-job training is provided and recorded.

To contribute to annual appraisals and performance reviews for the café team.

Operational standards

To ensure that all café staff have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all the items on the menu & drinks list, including any specials or new items.

To ensure all café equipment is maintained correctly and that accurate maintenance schedules and records are logged.

To assist in the planning and execution for any special functions or event.

Health & safety

To ensure a safe and hygienic environment is maintained for customers, staff and visitors.

To ensure the café meets the required standards for risk assessment and that staff are trained on procedures that minimise the risk of injury, illness and damage.
