    About Akub:

    Opening Autumn 2022 in Notting Hill, Akub will showcase Palestinian food to the London restaurant scene.

    From the hot bright salads of the Gaza coastline to deep stews from the rolling hills of Ramallah, Akub aims to share the rich diversity of ingredients and culinary techniques passed down through generations.

    We will celebrate and promote the cultural heritage of Palestine through our cuisine and design. Our cuisine will showcase the magic of Palestinian flavours. Our design, art, embroidery and glassware will reflect the beauty of the landscape, flora and crafts of the region.

    Working alongside an acclaimed Palestinian chef Fadi Kattan, we will partner with Palestinian producers alongside UK farmers close to London to combine Palestinian fair-trade sourced ingredients with the best fresh and local produce while maintaining an environmental friendly supply chain.

    About the Role:

    We are looking for a General Manager to lead on the opening of Akub, someone who will oversee the operational setup of the restaurant, help shape and build the working environment and culture of the business, as well as work on the financial forecasting and budgeting with the company directors and shareholders.

    The key responsibilities for this role are ensuring a consistently high level of customer experience whilst keeping the business operationally efficient. You will be responsible for hiring, maintaining and training the team, regularly reviewing the P&L/ management accounts and coming up with recommendations to improve performance.

    What we are looking for:

    This is a very “hands-on” and challenging position, so it is paramount that you are a leader that is able to set standards and lead by example and also who is a good listener who works well in a team. You must be comfortable to work under pressure and be passionate about serving guests according to the highest standards. We are looking for someone who has a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role, but opening experience, whilst desirable, is not a requirement.

    Job Specific Knowledge & Abilities:

    ·Strong track record of success in the London hospitality industry

    ·Solid commercial understanding of restaurant P&Ls and cash flows

    · Knowledge of UK labour law and appropriate training in interviewing, hiring and disciplinary procedures.

    ·Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

    · Working knowledge of:

    o   POS system and how to pull reports

    o   Rota and people management software

    o   Inventory management software

    o   Table bookings software

    Skills & Attitude:

    ·    Strong communication, organisational, operational, people and leadership  skills

    ·     Energetic self-starter, with great attention to detail

    ·     Passionate about food and  hospitality

    ·      Ability to adapt to a multicultural environment
