Japanese restaurant Bisushima to launch in Covent Garden

Published 25 September 2020

We’re pleased to see the new restaurant restrictions haven’t deterred people from going ahead with their opening plans. The latest is Bisushima, a rooftop restaurant and bar overlooking Trafalgar Square.

Launching in later this year, the modern Japan-inspired restaurant is on the sixth floor of the newly refurbished Page8 hotel in Covent Garden. The 6,000sq ft venue features a bar and two roof terraces, with space for 190 covers, and interiors which sound what like many of us need right now, ” a sanctuary in the city.”

The menu will feature modern Japanese food: seared cured mackerel pressed sushi with ginger, unagi shirayaki (eel) with porcini mushrooms and miso infused spinach, and puddings like Hojicha crème brûlée with blackcurrant ice cream.

“Bishushima has been a dream of mine for many years so I’m delighted to finally bring the idea to life,” says chef and restaurateur Sergey Men. “In the morning we will be serving the only Japanese breakfast in London, then throughout the day it will be informal and laid back, a place of comfort and sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of London.”
