London’s leading chefs cook for Australia at charity dinner

Published 6 March 2020

Over the past few months, the devastating bushfires across Australia have killed billions of animals, destroyed homes and more than 11 million hectares of land have been affected. Many British people have helped raise awareness and money – and it’s good to see London’s leading chefs coming together to raise vital funds for the rebuilding of the communities and wildlife impacted by the Australian bushfires.

On 26 March, chefs from some of London’s most-loved restaurants will come together to host #CookForOz at Australia House. The line up includes Brett Graham from The Ledbury, Bill Granger of Granger & Co, Pidgin’s Hamish Pearce and Shaun Presland from Pacific London. Drinks are curated by both Charlie Mellor of the Laughing Heart and Quality Wines’ Gus Gluck.

The dinner is spearheaded by Australian-born Clerkenwell Boy, who set up the Australian Bushfire Relief Campaign to unite the capital’s food and drink scene for those affected. So far, 120 restaurants have raised AUD $528,052 by asking for £1 donations per bill, or by creating a special dish, plus charity dinners and online auctions. This high-profile dinner will bring them closer to their aim of AUD $1,000,000.

Clerkenwell Boy comments “We are so grateful for these top chefs and London’s restaurant community who are coming together to help those affected. After months of devastating fires, it’s now time to rebuild.”

Tickets to the dinner cost £200, with 100% of profits donated to a range of charities personally chosen by each chef. To buy a ticket, please click here
