Kenny Atkinson, holder of Michelin stars at his two Newcastle restaurants, House of Tides and Solstice by Kenny Atkinson, is heading for the capital. This autumn, he will launch Solaya, a new French Mediterranean restaurant on the 25th floor of the art’otel London Hoxton. The sky-high venue will boast a 70-cover dining room, private dining balconies, a lounge and bar, and sweeping 360-degree views of the city. Atkinson, a previous Great British Menu winner, is named as concept chef; running the kitchen day-to-day will be head chef Nicola Losquadro, latterly of Sucre and Mere.

Joe Grossmann, of Patty&Bun and The Waterman’s Arms, is taking over The Shaston Arms—the beloved Soho pub that closed recently after 25 years. The pub will reopen in October serving “elevated pub classics in a pared back style.”
Another famed London boozer under new ownership: The Macbeth in Hoxton, which Jamie Allan, ex The Plimsoll, will relaunch in August. Allan’s menu will take inspiration from Portuguese tascas. Think snail rice, and pork and cheese rolls.
Brian Woo, protégé of the late Nguyen Thi Thanh—AKA The Lunch Lady from Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations—will take over the former Frenchie site in Covent Garden with a branch of his southern Vietnamese restaurant Cô Thành in September.
