London’s original handroll bar Temaki, founded in Brixton in 2021, is heading to central London. The new site on Maddox Street in Mayfair, opening February, will allow the restaurant to more than double in size, with a 16-seat counter on the ground floor and a 28-cover basement dining room inspired by Japan’s listening bars. It will also offer an expanded menu, going beyond the temaki (handrolls) with which it quite literally made its name, to include Japanese small plates, A4 wagyu sliders, and sando specials, alongside wines, sakes, and a concise list of cocktails. Founder A.M. Dupee comments: “We loved our time in Brixton, and with our new creative team we are so excited to build on that success in central London, on Mayfair’s Maddox Street.”

Liverpool is to get its first taste of bottomless chai and bacon naan when a branch of Permit Room, Dishoom’s all-day café concept, arrives in the city in early March. You can sign up for the 50% soft launch period in late February here.
Chef Dom Taylor’s The Good Front Room is coming back. The modern Caribbean concept, previously a pop-up at The Langham, moves into new permanent digs in Dalston on February 5. Look forward to whole jerk chicken and coco stack sliders.
