Stanley’s Restaurant & Bar launches with Masterchef’s Olivia Burt

Published 27 July 2020

She was a standout star of Masterchef: The Professionals in 2019 and now Olivia Burt has been announced as head chef of Stanley’s Restaurant & Bar. Located on Chelsea’s Sydney Street, the 102-cover restaurant with large outdoor terrace is the first opening for restaurateur Hugh Stanley.

Under the leadership of head chef Olivia Burt, Stanley’s will focus on British seasonal produce. Having most recently worked at Claridge’s, Burt also brings experience from Joel Robuchon in Paris and her time competing in MasterChef: The Professionals aged 23. Additionally, Burt notably became the only female chef in four years to reach the finals of the prestigious Roux Scholarship in 2019.

Guests can expect small plate dishes, including a sourdough crumpet with Cornish crab and potted shrimp, a British charcuterie selection and whipped smoked cod roe with buttermilk flatbreads.

A carefully curated wine list will complement the food, put together by Chelsea’s oldest wine merchants Lea & Sandeman. Highlights include Stanley’s collaboration with English sparkling producer Coates & Seely, as well as a classic cocktail menu.

With a garden like feel to the décor, the outdoor courtyard seats 60 guests, complete with festoon lighting, potted plants, botanical prints and two water features. Alongside the main dining room with space for 30, including a central banquette style table for eight guests, the site also has an orangery and private dining room with space for 12.

Stanley’s is now open for lunch, dinner, late night drinks and Sunday brunch, open until 11:30pm. For more information or to book a table, visit the website here.
