Wonderland restaurants and Warner Bros. to launch a global first immersive restaurant

Published 14 February 2020

Unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, Wonderland Restaurants has announced a partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC to launch immersive restaurant experience Park Row. Set to launch on Brewer Street, Soho this Spring, Park Row it is inspired by DC characters including Batman, The Joker, Harley Quinn and Wonder Woman – certain to be a hit with movie fanatics and comic fans alike.

Located in an 18,000 sq ft basement venue, Park Row will feature five restaurants, totalling 330 covers, and three bar areas. London-based interior designers Ab Rogers Design studio are using objects, light and materials to bring DC’s fictional characters to life, with the aim of transporting diners to the worlds of their favourite super heroes.

Executive chef Cláudio Cardoso, formerly of Sushisamba, will oversee the kitchen, whilst the former head of central development at The Fat Duck Mark Garston is the innovation director.

With five restaurants on offer, the team really have thought of it all… Pennyworth’s (named after Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred) will serve a selection of sharing dishes, whilst The Penguin’s Iceberg Lounge is the largest restaurant featuring an international menu, cocktail bar and live entertainment every evening. A Harley-Quinn inspired restaurant will serve Japanese food, whilst Old Gotham City is described as “a villainous speakeasy.” Finally, The Monarch Theatre will use projection mapping technology to create two identical spaces, serving a multi-sensory tasting menu.

“We are delighted to partner with Warner Bros. to create their first immersive DC-inspired gastronomic restaurant experience found anywhere in the world. This is a project many years in the making, with every detail carefully thought out to deliver a unique experience for our guests” says James Bulmer, chief creative officer of Wonderland Restaurants. He continues “Trends in our sector are moving towards fun, immersive and experiential dining and our aim is to demonstrate this on a grand scale with exceptional food and drink to match. I am still a child at heart, inspired by the greatest stories and storytellers. For me, great food experiences are about unlocking guests’ emotions and creating edible memories.”

Peter Van Roden from Warner Bros. Consumer Products adds “Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC have been integrally involved in the creative development of the concept, collaborating and contributing to Wonderland’s vision for this unique experience and expression of the DC brand. We are hugely excited to see the first immersive DC-inspired restaurant open here in London and wish the incredibly talented team at Wonderland and Park Row all the best for its launch.”
