After opening a string of hugely successful neighbourhood bistros, king crowdfunder Gary Usher got back in the game in 2019 to open his first restaurant in Manchester city centre. The fundraising effort broke records drawing in £100,000 in just 11 hours and the King Street site was transformed into a classy, grown-up restaurant space. On the ground floor a deep, polished wood bar welcomes solo diners or a space to stop in for a glass of wine and a read of the papers. Perhaps take an afternoon snack if the mood strikes. On the mezzanine level is the 55-cover dining room where Usher’s trusted team execute a consistently great menu of interesting, seasonally changing bistro dishes. On Sundays they turn out one of Manchester’s very best roasts.
