Taking over the spot that was formerly home to Teacup Kitchen for more than a decade, The Smithfield Social opened its doors in April 2021 and was warmly received by those loyal to the Norther Quarter. Part of the buzz is thanks to the involvement of Courteneers frontman and fellow local, Liam Fray. Though also of interest is the partnership with serial hospitality investor Jobe Ferguson and chef Anthony Fielden – a successful duo from nearby TNQ who have shown they know how to get this neighbourhood excited.

Promising to champion local ingredients from local suppliers, the menu stays true to its word with dishes that include Goosnargh chicken from Lancashire, sausages from Albert Matthews in Bury and brews on tap from nearby Cloudwater.
