Venue Manager – Stubby’s Deli, Parsons Green

    About Stubby’s

Stubby’s is a new neighbourhood spot opening in Parsons Green Lane this summer. Part deli, part coffee shop, part wine bar. It’s a place for people who care about what they eat and drink, and who want somewhere that feels genuinely local. We’ll be offering exceptional coffee all day supplied by Allpress, a short list of big cross-section sandwiches at lunch, a retail selection curated for people that like to have people over, and finally some delicious wine, cocktails, and aperitivos as the sun goes down.

The concept is loosely inspired by the way Aussies like to approach hospitality – high quality but not high brow. We’re a small, independent team but a business looking to grow and expand.

    The Role

We’re looking for a Venue Manager to lead Stubby’s day-to-day – someone whose first love is coffee and who wants to step into a leadership role without losing touch with the craft that got them here. You’ll report directly to our Group General Manager, Leah, and be the person on the ground making sure every cup we serve is one we’re proud of, every shift runs smoothly, and the team is happy, trained and firing.

This is primarily a daytime role, you’ll rarely finish later than 8:30pm, and always Sunday – Tuesday nights off.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    Coffee quality and standards

Owning the coffee programme: calibration, consistency, seasonal adjustments, and making sure every barista on the team is delivering to the same high standard
Bringing new ideas on brewing methods, drink styles, and menu development
Working closely with our roaster partner and keeping on top of what’s happening in specialty coffee more broadly
    Retail curation & knowledge

The retail selection will be ever-changing and will require a finger on the pulse of what brands are up & coming and keeping the offering unique. There’ll be plenty of working with small brands to get them on our shelves
The role will require broad knowledge of food&bev, across wine & spirits but also pantry staples & speciality local produce at home & abroad
    Team leadership and training

Running barista training, inductions, and ongoing development for the whole team
Setting the standard in service through your own presence on the floor
Being a calm, reliable point of contact for the team day-to-day

    Operations

Opening and closing the venue, managing the shift, and making sure everything is prepped and ready
Stock management for the entire wet side of the business, including the retail offering and equipment – ordering, waste tracking, equipment maintenance
Communicating clearly with Leah on anything that needs escalating, and being proactive about flagging issues before they become problems
    What We’re Looking For

A genuine passion for specialty coffee – you know your stuff and you love talking about it
Experience as a head barista or senior barista in a quality-led environment; prior management experience is a bonus but not essential if you’re ready to make the step
A natural team leader – patient, clear, encouraging, and consistent
Someone who takes pride in the details: dialling in a shot, presenting a batch brew, training a new team member the right way
Good with people – guests, team, suppliers
Organised and reliable; you keep your section clean and your team informed
    Hours and Schedule

Primarily daytime shifts; latest finish 8:30pm
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights off every week
Mix of opening and mid shifts across Wednesday to Sunday
    Salary

Competitive, dependent on experience. We’ll discuss openly at the interview.
