Goodbye Horses is offering a full time role for an ambitious and hands on Junior Sous chef to join the team.
As Junior Sous Chef, you’ll support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering consistent, high quality food while helping lead the kitchen team day to day. This is a hands-on role focused on service leadership, prep organisation, and maintaining standards across the kitchen. You’ll play a key part in developing junior chefs, managing sections, and ensuring smooth, efficient service.
Goodbye Horses is a wine bar on a leafy street in De Beauvoir Town, London. Recently awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand, we pair a seasonal, produce-led menu with wines that are fun, living, and as close to zero-zero as possible — nothing added, nothing removed. We offer an extensive by-the-glass selection in a relaxed, convivial setting.
Location: De Beauvoir, Hackney, London.
Pay: Up to £17 per hour (tronc incl)
Reports To: Head Chef, General Manager
Hours: 45 hours per week
Start Date: Immediate
Main responsibilities:
Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations
Lead sections during prep and service
Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met
Help train and develop Commis and Chef de Partie team members
Maintain strong organisation and prep planning
Support stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
Uphold food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness standards
Step up to run services in the absence of senior chefs
Contribute to menu development
Foster a positive, professional kitchen culture
