Award-winning bakery and craft chocolate maker Pump Street is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to work to maintain relationships with retail, restaurant and specialty coffee customers and to grow our sales within these sectors.

We have a strong foundation as an independent business that is constantly pushing boundaries and striving to be leaders in the craft chocolate market.

Pump Street opened as a bakery in 2010 in the village of Orford, Suffolk, and was founded by father and daughter team Chris and Joanna Brennan. We continue to be a bakery and café in the village and have also significantly expanded our chocolate business which continues to be focused on making the best quality single farm craft chocolate, all made from the bean to the bar by us at our premises.

This role will be based in our London office, working alongside our Executive Director and Marketing Manager but would also involve spending the majority of the week out of the office with customers, at events, and meeting clients in Suffolk. Regular travel to Suffolk is essential.

    Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director and working in partnership with the management team, responsibilities will include:
    ·      Setting sales targets on a quarterly basis
    ·      Reporting on sales on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis

    Inbound Customers
    ·      Responding promptly to incoming enquiries that come in through our online form, completing our customer pipeline, and onboarding

    Existing Customers
    ·      Developing and maintaining a customer retention programme using Capsule, our CRM system
    ·      Account management (in person, over the phone and by email) – to grow and develop an awareness of the nuances of each of our customers
    ·      Working closely with the Fulfilment Lead at our factory in Suffolk to ensure orders are sent out in a timely manner.
    ·      Working closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure communications are shared in a timely manner with customers.
    ·      Work alongside the Marketing Manager to think of creative ways to share about our stockists with our wider audience.
    ·      Forecasting & Reporting – Working with the production team to build robust forecasts, especially in the run-up to our busy seasonal periods.

    Prospects
    ·      Develop and identify long term partnerships with key national restaurants, coffee shops and delis, specifically working with those with purchasing power.
    ·      Maintain a complete knowledge of our process and products and the context of the craft and wider chocolate market, demonstrated through tastings conducted with chefs, coffee shops and retailers.
    ·      Attending and organising our participation in events, conferences, meetings and exhibitions

    Requirements

We are looking for someone who is excited to delve into the world of chocolate and wants to represent a business that both acts with integrity and is willing to break the mould in order to provide the best quality.
    Other important skills/education:
    ·      At least five years of experience in sales, preferably in Food and/or Retail
    ·      Knowledge of the wider food scene in London, but also with respect to other large cities around the UK.
    ·      Demonstrated experience of negotiation, sales growth or seizing strategic business wins within a small company.
    ·      Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and work in a fast-paced environment and willing to be adaptable when relevant.
    ·      Education to a degree level, or equivalent experience
    ·      Experienced in using Capsule or other CRM systems
    ·      Exceptional communication skills, both in conversation and in writing, happy to speak in front of a crowd.
    ·      Excellent awareness of Excel or other financing software.
    ·      Confident and commercially savvy – you must feel comfortable interacting with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels and apply business commercial acumen to your thinking.
    ·      An interest in communicating the complexity of our product but mainly a passion for the product!
    ·      Excellent attention to detail, organisation and timeliness.
    ·      Experience of using Unleashed for sales data, would be a bonus.

Please submit your cover letter and CV including two references.
